AFI News Headquarters was launched on February 21, 2009 as a blog with the goal of aggregating all of the news about AFI’s upcoming album Crash Love. Our readership quickly grew because people enjoyed the convenience of not having to check a dozen different sources for their AFI news. Over the next few months, as anticipation for the new album rose, the site grew both in staff and in readership. We launched AFI Ignite, a larger site that included downloads, a complete discography, an encyclopedia, and more.
Over the past few years the site has made some impressive accomplishments and reached several milestones. We have received praise from the band, with drummer Adam Carson tweeting: “AFI News HQ keeps me updated with AFI. Really… it’s true.” They have also spoken favorably of the site in interviews and on the radio. Bassist Hunter Burgan has even left comments from time to time. Two weeks before the release of Crash Love we had the ultimate reward: an email containing four unheard songs from the album, of which we posted our reviews. In 2010 we organized the four-part Answer That and Stay Fashionable interview series, with a one of our staff interviewing a member of the band at tour dates across the nation.
On September 29, 2011 we launched our AFI News HQ supersite, which combines our excellent news system with the wealth of information we have compiled on AFI Ignite. This is the next evolution for our network, and we believe it is the best way to bring value to our readers and AFI fans worldwide. We look forward to making improvements for you in the future.
