When you’ve been around for 20 years, you’re going to make some friends with other bands. Here is the most complete listing of AFI’s connections to other bands.

Tiger Army
- Geoff Kresge (AFI’s former bassist) now plays bass for Tiger Army
- Jade Puget, Adam Carson, and Geoff Kresge used to play in a band with Nick 13 (Tiger Army’s frontman/singer) called Influence 13.
- Davey Havok, Jade Puget, Adam Carson, and Nick 13 all went to the same high school in Ukiah, CA
- Nick 13 has sung backing vocals on every AFI album since Very Proud of Ya. He sang a duet with Davey Havok in the chorus of “A Single Second.”
- Davey Havok has sung backing vocals on the following Tiger Army albums: “Tiger Army,” “Tiger Army II: Power of Moonlite,” “Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise,” and “Music from Regions Beyond.”
- AFI did a live cover of Tiger Army’s song “True Romance” at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA on March 25, 2000
- Nick 13 regularly joins AFI onstage during their live shows to help sing “A Single Second.” This can be seen
- Davey Havok and Nick 13 are friends; they share a tatto of a cat jumping through a ’9′
Rancid
- “Half-Empty Bottle” and “Your Name Here” were produced by Tim Armstrong and Brett Reed of Rancid
- Jerry Finn, who produced Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground, also produced Rancid albums …And Out Come The Wolves and Life Won’t Wait
Redemption 87 (1995-1999)
- Before joining AFI, Jade Puget was a member of Redemption 87. This short-lived hardcore band had ex-members of Unit Pride, Skankin’ Pickle, and Token Entry, and contained a future member of The Nerve Agents (Eric Ozenne and Timmy Stardust).
- Covered songs “Tied Down” by Negative Approach, “The Big Takeover” by Bad Brains, and “Hard Times” by Cro-Mags.
Loose Change (1993-2002)
- Consisted of Jade Puget and Chon Travis. Jade left Loose Change to join AFI. Chon Travis went on to start Love Equals Death.
- Loose Change was in its strongest point from 1993-1995, but they continued recording songs for various split EP’s/compilation records all the way up until 2002.
The Dear & Departed
- Dan Under (also known as Dan Smith, founder and vocalist of The Dear & Departed) has recorded backing vocals on Crash Love and Decemberunderground.
- The Dear & Departed will be touring the UK with AFI in 2010
- Davey Havok gave a necklace to Dan Under, which he still wears

- Voice featured, along with other hardcore punk luminaries, in an answering machine recording on the All Bets Off album, “Girls About Songs”.
- Sang a cover of Straight Edge Revenge by Project X along side the hardcore punk band Ceremony on November 6th 2008 in Berkeley California. The Video is viewable on YouTube.
