Rolling Stone has posted the entirety of “Faith Healer” here. They also have a small blurb from Davey on what the song is about.
“‘Faith Healer’ speaks of one’s search for salvation through misplaced faith in the spiritual while desiring a purely carnal healing,[...]The lyric offers corporeal relief and freedom from an oppressive, malignant dogma.”
What do you guys think of the song?

Me gustaría mucho tener la letra…
That was a rather…wordy…explanation. lmao But then it’s Davey soooo…
The song actually caught my attention, I like it. That’s coming from someone who has lost a significant amount of interest in this project. Consider me reinvested.
Davey is trying too hard, but Jade is spot on. 3/5.
It was a good attempt, but Davey isn’t quite on par with what Jade is doing. I can def dance to it, but vocally and lyrically it doesn’t quite fit. Davey needs to find a way to match what Jade is doing.
This could probably be resolved if the two of them actually sit in the same room and work on the songs TOGETHER rather than having Jade make all the music and then sending them to Davey to write lyrics.
I feel like Davey is bringing down Blaqk Audio to a very great extent, there’s potential for BA to be a great EDM act or an Industrial act, especially with what Jade is pumping out, but goddamn…Davey. You’re bringing this project down to a bad level. He’s either taking this way too seriously or he’s just not putting himself all in. EDM is supposed to be fun, upbeat, and carefree, but unfortunately Davey’s vocals and writing make it feel too contrived. He needs to loosen up a bit.
This all may sound too harsh, but it seems like they aren’t on the same page with things. I would def love to hear more of Jade as a solo DJ.
I also want to say that the song isn’t horrible and I do love the chorus, but something is definitely missing on Davey’s part.
I like the intro. Davey: eh. Not quite right. The chorus is good. Nice! Yeah, I like the chorus. I´m typing this while I´m listening to the song, so it´s kind of messy. Oh well.
Davey’s soul isn’t in it, yet he seems to try very hard to make it so and this doesn’t fit in EDM. I agree with Danny, maybe if they actually wrote together the ideas would flow better. I do like the song though.
Easily the weakest overall Blaqk Audio song released so far.
The lyrics are all right. Far from Davey’s best but still pretty good.
Well for me it was extremely boring, plastic, forced, and lame
If I listed all Blaqk Audio songs from best to worst, Faith Healer would be at the veeeeeery bottom.
To be honest, I think the only real BA song that I absolutely like is Mute.
I think a lot of it is good, but not great. I get sick of CexCells because they’re all so damn similar to each other that they just run together.
The lyrics aren’t horrible, it’s just Davey’s vocals. They bring the entire song down. It’s kind of a buzzkill because I was kinda looking forward to this song.
Yeah, Davey goes between not giving a shit at all and an overdramatic Morrissey kind of thing (no disrespect to Moz, haha).
If Dave’s seriously committed to going along this BA route, I doubt there’s much of a chance he can get anywhere if he continues to lay down such disposable melodies and clunky sounding lyrics. I’m fond of Jade’s arrangement, but the mixing doesn’t sound quite right. It could be that I’m listening to a low quality streaming file, but I just don’t hear the punch and clarity I should – I was hoping the delay in getting this album out was that a producer would teethe out this problem as it also features on the other songs from BBH. Just compare this to 37mm, even though 37mm is compressed as hell, there’s clear distinction in the synth textures, here? It kinda sounds… mushy, for lack of a better word. Final nitpick: where the hell are the background vocals or harmonies? Reverb doesn’t excite me anymore fellas, it’s lazy and inferior to a good multi-tracked vocal or some innovative processing or vocal arrangements. It’d help cure Dave’s monotony and keeps things fresh (perhaps the staleness is there to match his lyrical themes? I’m pretty sure this is the 9104289th time he’s addressed the theme of disillusionment with the institution of faith and guess what? He bested it with The Great Disappointment, almost a decade ago, and while I agree with Dave’s view, he’s gotta move on.)
I’m sorry to be so negative guys, but I think I’m starting to grow tired of pretentiousness married to stunted artistic reach and that doesn’t really bode well for BA hahaha.
Don’t apologize for anything, it’s the truth. It’s just so boring and forgettable.
It is, in fact, forgettable. I was looking at the lyrics today and found myself totally unable to get the rhythm of the song.
;-;
The chorus is catchy, but it’s still missing something. Like, it could be bigger and fuller than what it is. It almost feels like a demo recording.
I hate that I’m being so critical, but it’s just the truth. I know Davey has said that he makes what he likes, but he’s also gotta know when to listen to feed back. Unfortunately, Davey probably has no idea we exist so we’ll keep getting half assed songs until someone tells him to rethink things.
I picked it up yesterday, and I personally really enjoy it.
It’s a great song to dance to and might go over better live.
Not the best, but mos def better than “Cold War”
Honestly, can not stand that damn song.
But I’m looking forward to “Everyone’s Friends” the most.
It is so damn good live, I just want to hear the full studio version too.
Wow, this song really grew on me! I quite like it now.
