Blaqk Audio Signs to Superball Music

Blaqk Audio has released a statement saying they are now signed to Superball Music. The band is on a new imprint, called Big Death, but will be distributed by Superball.

Blaqk Audio said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Superball Music for the release of Bright Black Heaven and the premiere of Big Death. To be supported by a label built by true music fans is a refreshing pleasure. Together, we will bring our version of heaven to the world.”

The press release also says Bright Black Heaven will be released this year, and offers a FREE DOWNLOAD of “Bliss.”

Superball Music is a German label that was started in 2007. Coincidentally, the new release “Babylon” from Matt Skiba & The Sekrets, a side project in which Hunter from AFI played bass, was released on Superball Music.

  1. Danny says:

Hahaha stoked that we got the news first.

  2. Nils-Anders says:

So is Superball a good recordlabel?

  3. Mark says:

Yeah, never heard of it. But I’m happy it’s finally done, so whatever.

  4. boo says:

you guys didn’t get this first, they posted it via the BA facebook page well before this post.

    • Danny says:

The PR Blast was sent at the same time that BA posted it. We got the blast and were the first to report on it.

      • boo says:

that is a far cry difference from the “we got the news first.”

to be honest, who cares who reported it first? Based off what I see, it seems traffic on this site has palled quite significantly – which may change now, granted – but one would assume the Facebook page and/or other major outlets will reach a much wider spread fan base.

This site has become sad and contrite, almost borderline moot in these past months. Not just with the lack of news, but even the fed up attitude of the fans who leave commentary. I think people are kinda…over BA and AFI.

        OR

The state of the music industry has changed so drastically in the information age that no one really cares the way they did even 3, 5, or even 6 years ago. Regardless, I look forward to the work they are going to put out, Cex Cells is getting a good wearing out in my car.

        • Danny says:

I don’t really care, I made a comment and I stick by my comment. Obviously you DO care enough because you felt the need to reply.

        • James says:

Wow, just wow. I appreciate that you have an opinion, but obviously BA themselves will know of their label situation before we do. We got the PR blast at the same time they posted on their Facebook and we posted about 20 minutes later. The main thing right now is the great news that BA FINALLY will be releasing Bright Black Heaven!

        • Pablo says:

If people are kinda… over BA and AFI, why do they come here?

  5. Jacky says:

FINALLY! I’m so ridiculously pumped for Bright Black Heaven, and (maybe) new AFI soon!

    /fangirl

Don’t judge me. I said what everybody was thinking.

  6. Sunshinethewerewolf says:

Really trip out that Matt Skiba and Davey share a label now. Especially after all their history. Kill Caustic was written about him for crying out loud.

  7. J says:

Actually, the Blaqk audio fansite got the news first. They tweeted and wrote on Facebook that a press release would be sent out today a full day ago.

    • James says:

That just means they knew it was coming. Doesn’t mean they got the news first, lol. I believe Danny meant we posted it first, which is true. Of course it was posted on the BA Facebook first, but we received the PR blast at the same time and posted it within half an hour of BA themselves.

    • Danny says:

Like James said, they KNEW the PR Blast was coming, but even with prior knowledge, we were the first ones to post anything about it aside from BA (which would is obvious that they would post first) That is why I was excited. It was big news and we reported on it first, even though they knew before we would.

Sure, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything, but it is what it is and I’ll be damned if I’m not stoked.

    • Pablo says:

That Blaqk Audio fansite has been spreading false info over the past years. Their twitter was once named “official BA twitter account” by management, but because of the lies they spread, and the copyrighted material they host, it was revoked. They’ve spent the past year saying something good is going to happen soon, yet they know nothing.

  8. Christy says:

Let’s not talk about what BBH.com said, I like reliable information, thanks. That’s why I come here.

  9. Danny says:

If you feel you’re a professional, why stoop to the levels of our supposed immaturity? Why bother creating a response to us? Why not worry about checking your sources on info BEFORE concerning yourself with what is on here? God knows you need to step up your research and fact checking rather than creaming your pants every time you feel you get a nod of some sort.

There’s nothing else to be said, that’s it. It’s done. Adios. Good bye.

  10. Jasmine says:

If people are “over” AFI & BA for having lives and taking their time on their music they’re not real fans then.

Stoked for the BA (and AFI news of the future)!

I agree, the whole being around Skiba thing is weird. Dave may have forgiven him by now, however.

    • Ben says:

      Forgiven? What?

    • Danny says:

Wait, so if we grow out of their music and just get over them, we’re not real fans? I’m sorry, but that’s dumb. I don’t worship the band and if they do something I don’t like well, I’m going to move on.

      • Jasmine says:

Nobody’s telling you to do anything, it was just a general comment..

I just figure if people are on this page or any AFI anything, then negativity about them should be obsolete if they’re a fan. That goes for anything/anyone that people could be a fan of.

People wouldn’t go see a baseball team like the Yankees because they dislike them and/or want to “move on” to another. You either like them or you don’t.

        • Danny says:

False. I hate DU, worst album they’ve written. This doesn’t make me any less of a fan. Being a fan of something doesn’t mean that you have to like everything someone does or that you don’t criticize anything.

That’s called being a fan girl and that’s something that I am not.

        • Jacky says:

See, the thing is, there’s a difference between fandom and, as Danny said, fan-girldom. I love AFI. I love every album they’ve put out. But Decemberunderground is their worst. The lyrics to Veronica Sawyer Smokes kind of suck. Davey looked like a dumbass with blonde hair. None of this makes me any less of a fan; I’m merely criticizing aspects of them that I don’t like. AFI is my favorite band, but I’m not afraid to point out flaws. It’s like when someone is really in love and can’t see flaws in their paramour; that’s innacurate as nobody is perfect. By that logic, same goes for a band. As for sports teams: I’m a Wild fan, but when they have a bad season I can recognize that and talk about it. I still like the Wild.

  11. Pablo says:

    I like Blaqk Audio! :)

it’s like… baby baby baby oh!

  12. Jasmine says:

Yes, that is the difference between fandom and being a fangirl/boy. I’m not a huge fan of DU either and certain aspects of Crash Love, but I was just pointing out that if you wanna move on from them entirely that’s not being a fan.

Just as an average fan, you don’t need to love everything, but you need to like them to some degree. Moving on means you don’t anymore.

  13. Jimmy says:

KC is about Monica and Skiba.
“Connect to the three volt, I hope your battery dies” – batteries are generally made from Alkaline and 3 volt refers to Trio. Pretty much says it right there.
Skiba did have an interview where he told Monica’s and Davey’s situation and how he fit in. I’ve always assumed (plus tons of stuff that I’m sure went down between them all personally) which I think the prechorus and chorus more fit into.

    • Danny says:

Davey has said on the Ask AFI section that once someone angers him, he doesn’t harbor a grudge. He moves on and forgets their existence. Plus, that incident happened years before DU. So no, I don’t really think KC is about that.

  14. Jimmy says:

And in regards to the fan argument. I was a huge fan up until CL was released, and have been a fan for…. 14 years now or so, just because they have fallen to the back burner from being my favorite band until DU came out and even after despite hating the record. Doesn’t mean that I’m not a fan. Yes I’ve moved on to bigger and better things and have discovered stuff in other bands that I once saw in AFI. Will still buy, or at least check out their new album. Will attend their Concerts if possible. So am I not a “Tr00 Fan?”

And yes AFI & BA have more then fallen out of the mainstream, for the most part it was self-inflicted. Between taking so long between albums, falling quality, and shifting of the mainstreams taste have left them behind. I though CL proved that, it wasn’t because “it wasn’t marketed well” or “recording industry’s falling record sales”. It was because STS and More so DU had the right elements and were released at the right time to appeal to the mainstream. Unfortunately for the band, now both a majority of the mainstream and a majority of the underground have written them off.
I am just speaking my opinions and trying to be unbiased in the matter.

  15. Jimmy says:

Well you also have to remember KC was written in late 03/early 04. Besides if someone stole your fiancĂ© while you were away and proceeded to talk smack, you can say you wouldn’t be mad or hold a grudge, but how would you really feel. You have never had someone hurt you in a way you can still feel or felt years later? I know i have.
Why would he in particular choose the phrase” connect to the three volt, I hope your battery dies how could you run on such voltage?”
the only other meaning I could get out of the is the press/people with cameras, as that’s the only other 3 volt battery. AA/AAA/C/D are 1.5v, 9v, car batteries are 12.6.
I mean perhaps its not the meaning but it’s the most logical.

    • Jacky says:

Caustic and Alkaline are also related terms. I don’t know anything for sure, of course, but that seems the most logical meaning for Kill Caustic.
