Blaqk Audio Interview From Coupdemain Magazine

During the New Zealand Evanescence tour, Blaqk Audio talked with Coup de Main magazine about Blaqk Audio trying to find a label, releasing Bright Black Heaven, the Evanescence tour, and Jade’s working on The Dear & The Departed record.

Also briefly discussed was what was in store for AFI, which they didn’t have an answer for, explaining that their efforts have mainly been focused on Blaqk Audio’s obtaining a label. You can read the full interview here.

  1. Shane says:

Jade is looking much thinner than I remember.

  2. Jacky says:

Cool. More “there’s nothing to say” updates. There should really be a rule that nobody asks either of them about music until BBH is out.

  3. Danny says:

Does anyone really give a shit about BA still? Personally BA is just so bleh…Self release the record and give me AFI.

  4. Jimmy says:

Hmm still not a date?? I gave up caring for a couple months and it just came back to me wen BA came blasting through the phones like a long lost love and …. Yea…. I guess I can wait til fall to hear “it’ll be out in April!!! So fucking pumped” — 4/8/13 “we’re hoping September were trying super hard” still much love for them !! AFI soon please go back to ur roots Dave where u belong :)

  5. jtf says:

i just have afi. there next album will be so long overdue when it comes out. based on their past album release trends, the next afi album should have been released at the end of this year or the beginning of 2013.

    • Danny says:

That was never set in stone. I’m kinda tired of hearing the whole “ZOMG! NEW ALBUM EVERY THREE YEARS! WHAT’S GOING ON?!”

In my personal opinion everyone should get over the three year thing, its not happening.

  6. Ben says:

As much as I would like to have had the new AFI album out this fall, we have no right to complain about how the “schedule” has been changed. Davey and Jade are clearly engrossed in BA right now, and if you were a pro musician and were interested in a current project, wouldn’t you want to take as much time as you’d like on it? They’re just doing what interests them, which is what they should be doing. If they rushed back into the studio to meet an unofficial “3-year album deadline” AFI would probably have a very shitty, rushed album for us. Chill.

  7. Danny says:

Not sure if I’d be happy with DU part 2. In fact, I know I wouldn’t and I would pack up my DF stuff and fade into the shadows.

  8. Mark says:

This kinda stuff makes me think AFI is nearing it’s end…

  9. Allie says:

What struck me first was that Jade shaved off the lines on his face, kinda bummed me out. Second, they are really into BA right now and really dont mind it myself. BA is what they are into right now. Soon AFI will be brought back up and people will be asking for BA. I love what ever they put out anyways, so this doesn’t phase me.

  10. Veronika says:

AFI was amazing while it lasted… They say they’re keeping BA and AFI separate, but the new AFI album (IF they even care to work on this band anymore) will be crappy and sound too “pop”-y.

    • Jacky says:

Says who? Blaqk Audio is Davey and Jade’s outlet for pop. The simple rock-ness of Crash Love was a product of Blaqk Audio in that (and this is true, one of them, not sure who, said this) they simply became tired of doing all this electronic stuff so they were happy to play straightforward rock music again. I actually expect a darker Crash Love sound if we’re lucky enough to get AFI #9.
